Well Centre Charity Team and the Importance of the Health & Wellbeing Practioner

Central to the Well Centre youth health service is the role of the Health and Wellbeing Practitioner (HWP).

The HWP works in a multidisciplinary team with the general practitioner (GP) to take a holistic approach to responding to young people’s health needs. They work alongside the GP to provide counselling, social prescribing, advocacy and mentoring.

Stephanie Amoako-Jordan is a Health and Wellbeing Practitioner working with the service in Lambeth. In this recent blog for BMJ Careers she explained what the work involves, how the HWP is central to the team and how they support the young people in their care.

In this video, Co-founder and Clinical Director, Dr Steph Lamb talks about the importance of the HWP role.
